Jhargram, Ghatsila, Galudih


Jhargram is a town and headquarters of Jhargram district in West Bengal. It is about 3 hour drive by road and 3 hour journey by train from Kolkata. It is located on the Kolkata Mumbai Rail and Highway. This is an ideal place for leisurely vacation. The place is famous for royal palace, forest and ancient temple. You can visit tribes area in Chikligarh and Lodhashuli. You can stay here for 2/3 days and move to Ghatshila. On the way to Ghatshila, you can see the royal palace of Dhalbhumgarh. Ghatshila is famous town best known for Subarnarekha river and place of great Bengali author Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhyay. Ratmohana, a place on Subarnarekha river is very famous for watching sun set. Rankini temple, Bibhuiti Bhshuan’s heritage home and Fuldungri hillock are the visiting spots in Ghatsila. There are other places around like Burudih dam and Dalma range of forest. You can then visit Galudih to stay in peace near the nature for a day or two. Nearby interesting places are the Duarsini hill top in the forest that falls under Purulia district.
